PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE Exhibiting, reviewed artist from 1988–2022. Freelance art instructor and exhibition design and preparation art handler for three decades. Self employed international consultant business since 2000, columnist for Whole Person magazine, educator, public speaker, and author of three books.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

2000- present

  • Chess Coach for Train of Thought, serving underprivileged children in Compton and South Los Angeles

  • New Academy For Science and Art (NASA), Instructional assistant for special needs children with learning and processing deficiencies, grades 3-5.

  • Village Play Garden, Altadena, ages 3-7. Lead teacher at Forest Camp

  • William Grant Stills Art Center, South Los Angeles.

Designing and teaching themed projects to African American and Hispanic children ages 4-12

  • Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery- gallery tours for LAUSD visiting schools, family workshops, and projects based on formal concepts of current gallery exhibitions.

1998-2016

  • Eagle Rock Arts Center, EagleRock. Children’s Art Institute, Van Nuys. ages 6-12, designed and taught various fine art, global art, and formal drawing to 300 children. Fostered a group environment conducive to creative and individual expression, promoting excellent student/teacher interaction and consciousness raising.

  • Highland Art School. Founded, directed and facilitated a small art school for children in Highland Park, Los Angeles.

1994-2000

  • Seven Arrows Elementary, Pacific Palisades. ages 5-12

Taught formal drawing, global art history, designed diversified projects tapered to class curriculum.

  • 18th Street Complex. Program at JohnAdams Middle School, Santa Monica. Developed and taught an in-depth art exploration of life and architecture of Medieval England, Japan and Italy.

  • Celebration Arts, residency 18th Street Complex-funded by Cultural Affairs Dept., City of LA

  • Performing Tree Inc. Introduction to Asian art at Wonderland School, Malibu. 68th Street School, South Los Angeles. Wilson Middle School, Glendale.

  • LA’s Best Taught multi-cultural projects based on art history at The Accelerated School,

68th Street School, and at various other LAUSD schools in Los Angeles.

  • Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Led educational tours to visually impaired & physically disabled.

  • Downtown Women’s Center, Los Angeles. Designed projects to enhance the lives of residents and

homeless women. Organized an exhibition of the residents’ work.
